I just reacted, ... Defense is something you can win games with.

These are like playoff games. Every game, every pitch, is so important now.

In our last two games we had double-digit leads and lost because we quit playing defense. That was pretty much what we worked on in practice all week, and we had a lot better defensive effort (Friday).

People don't really want to believe this, but it's baseball. You get used to it. You play 162 games. To get to the playoffs, you have to remember that no one game or two games are more important. It's hard to understand, but that's baseball.

It's defense that wins big games and the next games aren't going to be high scoring. They're going to be battles, ... If you can hold teams down in that scoring range, you're going to be in a good situation.

We had two well-pitched games, we had excellent defense and we had clutch hits. You got those three, you're going to win.
