I kind of cherish at least the idea of Midwestern candor and openness. But I couldn't live there.

Candor is a proof of both a just frame of mind and of a good tone of breeding. It is a quality that belongs equally to the honest ;man and to the gentleman.

In all my public and private acts as your president, I expect to follow my instincts of openness and candor with full confidence that honesty is always the best policy in the end.
