I like the one-acts because it's material they won't do on the main-stage productions. Also, I find the material of the one-acts more engaging.

I'd take Memphis against WVU or GW. There are differences, but the main one is Memphis is so deep.

We'll turn the lights off, we'll turn them on. There's a few boxes on stage and you act. There's nothing else to take you out of [the play]. If I could make a living doing black box theatre, I would. There's more art to it. It's like going to see an artist in his studio versus going to a gallery.

You won't see us at one of these for many, many years.

I have no idea how people will respond. The main concern about the Mills project was the traffic and parking congestion.

These concert productions are a good opportunity for me to get onstage every once in a while without having to make a huge time commitment. I'm not a big lover of performing - I'm a director from the core out - but I like to get on the stage once in a while. If I'm onstage once a year I'm happy - and if I'm not, I'm happy too.
