I lost my voice for the first time. I was so bummed out, but it happens to every singer at some point in their career. I don't think most people understand, but I sing every night and sometimes we do five shows in a row, which is really bad for your voice.

The thing most people don't understand is that pitching isn't the same every time out.

They really can't imagine what my voice is like. Every time I sing a song, they are very surprised.

The first thing that I do when I come out every night is to look at the faces in front of me, very individually.

What people don't understand is joining a gang ain't bad, it's cool, it's fine. When you in the hood, joining a gang it's cool because all your friends are in the gang, all your family's in the gang. We're not just killing people every night, we're just hanging out, having a good time.

My husband and I try to spend some time every night that I'm home talking without distractions.
