He was my right-hand man, no question. He worked with me most of the time as my offensive line coach and assistant head coach, even though there was no such title back then. I would have considered him that. He was that good, loyal and would do everything for you. He was everything you would want. He did his job and he did it very, very well. He was good with the kids.

There's no labor a man can do that's undignified -- if he does it right.

DAN is a great organization. It came along at the right time in diving. Dr. Bennett is best described as a diving god. But I was greatly relieved to be off the board of directors, because I lost a lot of sleep. Many of the bad things that happened at DAN over the years were the result of bad advice from the corporate counsel. I was terrified they were illegal.

Laura has been right on top of the Redwood program for some time. While Tom Lyons was exceptional, I don't anticipate the Redwood tradition to falter under Laura.
