I pray every day so that John Paul II is made saint. He is a man that changed Poland, changed me, changed the whole world. He was already a saint in his lifetime.

That's a grave over-simplification of a very complex issue. The bottom line should be what's in it for the members. Personally, I'm not aware of any benefits.

The whole process of applying to convert from a not-for-profit credit union to a for-profit mutual savings bank appears to have been flawed. The responsibility rests clearly on the shoulders of the board of directors.

Our members may not be able to do a balance sheet, but they understand the fundamentals. They are proud of our credit union and they want the best benefits and services to continue that they've enjoyed for 56 years.

I am extremely concerned about the recent application, approved by current directors, to convert to a mutual savings bank. And I'm even more concerned about the lack of communication from board members and executive management to members.

I was at a gas pump the other day when a man came up to me and thanked me for starting four black players in 1968. He remembered Bill Warner, Walt McKinney and Eddie Myers. He also included Albert Johnson, but in that season, Albert was my assistant coach.
