I really think we should be engaged in the community and how it enhances education.

What really interests me about Keene is how similar it is to Buffalo State.

I think information is good. Getting information to the students is important.

It is a huge concern that the college can't and shouldn't be putting policies and procedures in place to slow progress towards a degree.

I think it's worth the community looking into, although it may not be right for us. Right now, we're nothing more than a homeowners association. There's a group of people who feel we could do better and we should have our own tax base. You have a little more control of your own destiny, and from a political point of view, you get more autonomy.

Once you educate the boys, they tend to leave the villages and go search for work in the cities, but the girls stay home, become leaders in the community, and pass on what they’ve learned. If you really want to change a culture, to empower women, improve basic hygiene and health care, and fight high rates of infant mortality, the answer is to educate girls.
