I recall that Mr. Libby was displeased with what he described as 'selective leaking' by the CIA. He told me that the agency was engaged in a 'hedging strategy' to protect itself in case no weapons were found in Iraq.

I told Mr. Fitzgerald, I simply could not recall where that came from, when I wrote it or why the name was misspelled.

It was very clear the judge was displeased that the commissioners have failed to do their job and get this case settled.

The leaking of the name of a CIA [operative] is a dastardly act. It not only endangers the name of an agent who has put his or her life on the line for America, [but also] all their operatives and security ... It's a despicable thing to do. And some newspapers report that it was the White House that did it.

When I heard them being described as CIA agents ... I knew what would happen. Then we found out our loved ones had been tortured in a most cruel way. It's a nightmare.

Bob Novak called me before he went to print with the report and he said a CIA source had told him that my wife was an operative, ... He was trying to get a second source. He couldn't get a second source. Could I confirm that? And I said no.
