I saw what it did to my father. Being self-employed is sometimes like walking on a treadmill.

This is something I never wanted to do. I did it more for the family, to help Mom financially. I did it for the right reasons.

I think you have to be self-motivated enough first and foremost. You know, I'm gearing my training toward becoming better with everyone. I'm not good enough to worry about one guy. I have to worry about a whole lot of guys.

The best part about it is he's super self-conscious, and we had to do a follow-up call to tell him he was awesome. To this day he still wants to come to shows. He thinks he was a part of something awesome, and that's great. It's flattering.

No man succeeds without a good woman behind him. Wife or mother, if it is both, he is twice blessed indeed.

I remember there was a lot of talk about upgrading the pitching staff. I knew Matt Morris was out there. Watching him from the other league, I knew he was a tremendous pitcher and a tremendous competitor. I was thinking, 'Man, I really hope we get him,' and we did.
