I know I can serve Hawaii and our country well in the U.S. Senate, know we can mount a solid statewide campaign, know we have a good chance of prevailing.

Our priorities remain meeting our commitments, especially aircraft and spare parts to the U.S. military to support all their efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Nationwide is currently reviewing a variety of public policy proposals regarding natural disasters, including the Allstate proposal. It would be premature to announce a position until we have fully evaluated the pros and cons of the proposals in the public domain.

I believe that the fact and the reality of homosexuality and heterosexuality and of opposite and same-gender unions should be taught in our public schools without a value judgement system also being offered.
