I think the area is racist, not the university, not necessarily in terms of race. But I just think that people around here are close-minded.

Human race should learn to value the dignity of every person. It looks like people think they are superior race. It seems they can do anything they want because they have more rights than others. These behaviors and attitudes will destroy all human beings, as it will result in unending conflict. In consultation with the University Committee, we decided that people should not serve as chair of the Athletic Board for inordinately long periods of time. Many departments on campus change chairs every two years or three years. It seemed like a good thing to do.

But, damn. We are definitely not living in a post-racist society and I can imagine there are a lot of people out there wondering how much of a society we are living in at all.
