I told the girls that the pre-rankings are a sign of respect. However, it only means that we must work harder. I know this team will rise to the occasion when the times present themselves.

The girls were welcoming and warm, treated us with respect and had nice attitudes. It makes it more enjoyable, and it's nice they came together to do this.

Running without Valerie was certainly a factor in this race. However, I believe the girls ran pretty well. Even running without Val, our team average time was better than last year at this race. You have to be excited about that.

In respect for our girls, I feel like we need to be there and I want to be there. I don't know how effective my presence will be. I do know I will speak up.

I've told the girls we have to remain focused. We're still looking for a little respect. One way to earn it is to beat the defending champions.

She's not only a great student but she's an incredible leader on and off the field. The girls respect her.
