I want to commend the City of Indian Wells for having the foresight to step up at the very beginning to offer their support in keeping this great event here. This is a tremendous day for the Pacific Life Open and the residents of the Coachella Valley.

We should have had the tenacity to do these things from the beginning. We should have had the foresight to do these things when we approved the Wal-Mart coming here. Hindsight is 20-20, but we have to learn from our mistakes and not let this kind of thing happen again. We can't afford to.

We are thrilled that Martina is coming back. Her comeback has been impressive. She is quickly returning to her past form as the number one player in the world.

This was the most important step of all. A lot of issues had to be resolved. It was a matter of time but we had to find the right formula that would work for everyone.
