I wanted to come in and 'stir the pot' a little. I think that is what I have done, and I think it has been good for Starkville.

This country isn't a melting pot. Think of this country as a stir fry. That's what this country should be. A place where people are appreciated for who they are.

We are beginning to wrap up the Main Street improvements, putting in the new retaining wall on Jackson Street. We are buying a 90-foot fire truck. There are many little things, too.

We have a tremendous amount to do. We have done some positive things, but we still have real work in front of us.

We will probably need a bond issue do deal with our roads. It is a issue that we will have to deal with. In fact, money and taxing issues will be our biggest concerns over the next few years. Right now, tax revenues are higher than expected for the year. That is a pleasant surprise.

State is kind of like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. You don't really look at it until you get there because we have to win four games.
