I was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, the youngest of four girls, including my oldest sister, Lisa, who has special needs. My mom was a special education teacher, and my dad worked on the Army base. We weren't wealthy, but we were determined to succeed.

The word 'special', as it is applied to disability, too often means 'a bit shit'.

Working with special needs children is hard.

Special Needs People are innocence personified. They remain innocent throughout their lives. They are meant to be God's own children. The love and affection extended to them are akin to worshipping God. They are entitled to be loved, rather than being discriminated.
