I was really hurting pretty bad the final 75 meters, I was definitely in pain, ... My body has been beaten up pretty good in the last three months.

That's the most pain I've ever been in after a 200. It's exhaustion more than anything.

I wanted to get the fastest time in the world this year, but with everything going on, it's a pretty decent swim, ... I knew I was under world record pace. You could tell by the crowd. You can always tell at these meets when something good is going on because of the crowd.

The pain feels like someone is taking every bone in your body and breaking them continuously for eight or nine hours.

It's been unbelievable the pain that I feel, knowing that literally half of my body is laying 6 feet deep. But I also have courage and strength and faith that half of my spirit is in heaven right now.
