I was really, really happy that the high school kids got back their stuff. We started later in the year but something is better than nothing. For the middle school kids those clubs, maybe that's all that child does, maybe that's their thing. Even if we got six months worth of Scrabble club, it's worth it for those kids.

I do love that high school group. They're willing to do anything to make it happen and they have such great ideas for fundraising.

As you go through these things, your original intent changes. As I got further involved I really, thankfully, saw the global picture of how important the scrabble club or photography club is to so many kids who probably wouldn't be doing anything else. I had a good committee with me, a good group of volunteers and through talking to each other we ultimately arrived in the same place of what was good for the district.

The kids worked very, very hard.

All the students were brought into the cafeteria, and we handed our check to the principal. The whole school erupted in applause. Some of the teachers cried. We were just so happy that we could give it to them.

Giselle has no problem. She does really well in school. Some kids it might affect. They might go to school and speak Spanish. She does everything in English.
