I worked on a farm. Played ball and loafed along the fishing and swimming holes of the White River, and my boyhood was not a lot different from that of other youngsters.

I ran around with the other youngsters, hunting, fishing and raising tadpoles and all the rest.

I am pleased with the way we played. The back three, with the way they worked off the ball, were tremendous.

(White) has been on everyone and she's just getting better. She played JV ball last year. She waited her turn, and a lot of athletes don't do that.

Last summer my dad, brother and I went fishing off of Lake Erie. We charted a couple of boats and stayed in cottages on the lake. It felt like the trip was over before it began.

The youngsters that come in here are 15 days behind, and everything is all Greek to them. Everything is clear as mud to them. But someday it's going to open up like a rose petal for all of them.
