I've always been slightly afraid of coming out with my record because it's so personal to me. Now it doesn't feel as frightening as I thought it would.

I quit it because at the end of seven years in an ensemble show with one leader, I thought: 'I will be known as 'Dallas' starring Larry Hagman and the cast.' And at this point in my career - I was in my mid to late 30s - I thought, 'Now is the time when it's hottest for me to go out and establish my thing.'

I am and always will be an HRH. But out of personal choice I like to be called William because that is my name and I want people to call me William - for now.

I've always been slightly embittered about computers because it was the only subject I failed at school.
