I enrolled in the welding program because the welding we did in sculpture class was just enough to whet the appetite. I wanted to know how to properly work with the metal in my sculptures.

The arts community is generally dominated by liberals because if you are concerned mainly with painting or sculpture, you don't have time to study how the world works. And if you have no understanding of economics, strategy, history and politics, then naturally you would be a liberal.

The worst-case scenario is they get into a field they really aren't happy with. We want to make sure their majors are going to lead to a career they'd like to have. That's what education is all about.
