If Democrats want to run ads in districts around the country that are focused on Tom DeLay , it will be a banner year for Republicans. If they want to talk about Tom DeLay and I am talking about how their candidate raised taxes in the state legislature, we win.

People don't believe that their congressman is crooked just because you say he is. There's really more of a personal connection that you have to overcome.

If we have a quick time line, there is a certain segment of Congress willing to be patient.

Ney has maintained his innocence, that he was duped. If Bob Ney is running for re-election, he'll have our full support.

You have to be able to indict each specific member of Congress. [Vulnerable GOP Reps.] Rob Simmons, Nancy Johnson and Heather Wilson are not going to get beat because Democrats try to link them to tom delay or FEMA. It's not going to happen. People know that. They've been through tough races, and it's going to take more than name association for [Democrats] to beat them.

Every one of those Democrats is running in a district they can't win.
