If I know about drug dealing in the ghetto, the police have to know. One has to wonder why very little is ever done about it.

We looked at her, this hotel clerk, and we said, 'OK, if you want to call the police, call the police. You think they're going to come over here to help you out?' She started putting on her thinking cap real fast and she said 'OK, go on in,' ... She could've got shot like that, trying to keep people out.

I guess I hope the police department will overlook it. I think they know as well as I do that the public's safer if they spend the night in the shelter rather than under a bridge.

We have to acknowledge that there are massive problems if we want to facilitate change. There has been no effort to change the design of this country.

You cannot look at the success of black people by seeing who is on the front of Ebony magazine or by looking at Oprah. When you consider that only 1 percent of all business revenue comes from black-owned businesses, you have to ask yourself if this class disparity is the kind of society we want.
