If Warner doesn't find a strong candidate, he'll be held to account by national Democratic activists who vote in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Rendell is not just another governor. He's already been a national figure. He has been (Democratic National Committee) chairman, and he knows the movers and shakers and donors in all 50 states.

He is obviously a single-issue candidate, and they do not do terribly well in the presidential process.

Every American is going to be reminded in these hearings that every vote on the Supreme Court matters enormously. They tend to disagree with one another, they tend to factionalize, so each new justice has a major, really a tremendous impact on individual lives, on the exercise of our rights and our responsibilities.

It breaks up the status quo and it will certainly fracture the Republican vote and give a Democratic candidate an opportunity like there hasn't existed in a long time.

Election isn't about choosing the right person; it's about choosing the right candidate from the voter's view point.
