If we could compare ourselves to similar people 30 or 40 years ago, we would see a big difference. That is a negative aspect of our social relations today.

People spend more time at work and have more friendships and interactions there than they would have had in the past. To some extent it replaces other kinds of friendships that people would have had outside of work.

It's been slow, but it's there. It's noticeable when you compare it to a past generation.

Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

There are lots of 80- and 90-year-olds in Lakeview. People don't know if they were evacuated.
