If we sold the Park Slope house, Kevin could afford to take a year off from work and spend more time with the kids and he could help me start my consulting business. We put the Park Slope house on the market in April 2004, and it sold in 10 seconds.

We had a love-hate relationship with that house. It was dark, and the vertical living got to me with three small kids. We spent all our time in the kitchen and never used the parlor floor at all. Every night, we'd climb the mountain, 43 steps, to put the kids to bed.

So we decided we would move to the country.

There are just two of us now so I can afford to spend a little extra. They are more expensive. If I had a family, I don't believe I would come here.

Being the third pick he'll be able to afford a bigger pool house. He may not spend a dime of any money he gets. He's going to have to find a lot of hiding places.

My goal for next year, ... is to have at least one week a month where I spend every night in my own bed.
