If you want a summer job, you need to start applying now. If you wait too long and don't apply until you're two weeks out of school, you don't have as much to offer.

Before you apply to a job, I'd suggest you check out the job you're applying to. Especially in this case, a job that was offering a high wage in which they would train you.
