I'm a big Texas [football] fan, and after they won [the national championship] I shaved my head into a Mohawk with a Longhorns logo on each side. All of us like to go all out.

There's always the stereotype that Texas can't win the big game. Until we win a national championship, there's always going to be doubters.

When we won the national championship (in 2000), it was an incredible run and an incredible week, but when I walked off the airplane and pulled up to the hotel and someone pokes his head in the bus and says 'Thank you,' I knew what this was going to be about,

Not only did he do that and win a national championship in the process at Texas Western, he became an institution in El Paso. He was never lured by NBA or big-school NCAA money. He felt his job and his integrity were dependent on doing good by his school and town, the same role he had when he arrived there.

I'm not a big fan of CGI. I'm not a fan at all, unless they use it in a way that doesn't call attention to itself.
