To love others you've got to love yourself, but I love myself too much I've got no place for others.

We are unknown to ourselves, we men of knowledge - and with good reason. We have never sought ourselves - how could it happen that we should ever find ourselves? It has rightly been said: "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also"; our treasure is where the beehives of our knowledge are.

Facing yourself can be intimidating, but that is only until it is liberating.

...the whole 'know thyself' thing isn’t a journey to a fixed destination. Learning about myself changes me, forcing me to learn more. 'Know thyself' isn’t a goal; it’s a road.

Somehow knowing the end doesn't make it less painful!
