I'm just disappointed that Illinois hasn't offered [a scholarship to] Patrick [Beverley]. He really, really wants to go there. This is a kid that was dying for the blue and orange.

He came very close to playing for Notre Dame. We offered him (a scholarship), we wanted him, but I just did not feel that it was in his best interest to play for his dad. His mother always said he would have gone there, but she didn't like the position coach.

My brother worked here about 24 years ago. He was diagnosed with cancer after having a scholarship with Northern Illinois and the Spears' were nice enough to offer him a job down here.

He hasn't been going to all those little camps and stuff. The (Marshall) program had dwindled. When you don't stay above water, people will forget you.

The incident that occurred happened rapidly and was totally unforeseen.

He's the best freshman basketball player in the state. He's our quiet storm. He just goes out there every game and gets the job done with a lot of fanfare.
