I'm not happy about them being so far away with my grandbabies.

We just had to put it in the hands of the Lord. We knew Stan was doing what he wanted to do, so we just prayed a lot and asked the Lord to take care of him.

When Stan was over Iraq, we had some sleepless days and nights. If I went down, Bob would be up. We balanced each other's feelings. The only time we really became apprehensive was when we didn't hear anything from him for two weeks, not even an e-mail. That was pretty tough.

I don't like wars and fights and struggles. But that's all part of the American way. Scott and Stan have really strong feelings about their jobs and country. They're really good kids, and we're thankful every day for them.

In the early days of the DCC I preferred to let the proponents do their thing and then see how it all worked out in the end. Now we are pretty close to the end.
