I'm sad to see that in my own (religious) tradition. I do understand what they're responding to. There are aggressive unbelievers. There are scientists who firmly believe that you can't be a scientist and you can't do science if you are a religious person.

There are polemical extremes that are getting more hostile to each other,

I thought the issue was so polarized, I just didn't want to get caught,

I think evolutionary theory is compatible with faith,

Is there a way we can formalize (that understanding) and make it scientifically rigorous rather than intuitive? ... I think that's a fully legitimate question.

In that most burdensome moment of all human history, with blood appearing at every pore and an anguished cry upon His lips, Christ sought Him whom He had always sought—His Father. “Abba,” He cried, “Papa,” or from the lips of a younger child, “Daddy.”

This is such a personal moment it almost seems a sacrilege to cite it. A Son in unrelieved pain, a Father His only true source of strength, both of them staying the course, making it through the night—together.
