I'm too lazy to work my real job. I love what I do. I've been doing it for 26 years.

I just keep reminding myself that I am too lazy to work a real job. If I can make money driving a race car, that's one more day I don't have to sit in an (office) cubicle. I'm fearful of small spaces.

We got back to why we started racing in the first place and that's because we love being a part of race teams, and we love racing and we love competing. That attitude carried us through the slow times, and when the good times happened, it just made it that much better for us.

I'm not going to just stop doing it because I got hurt once. People get hurt in car wrecks every day, and they don't stop driving the car the rest of their life to work. It's my passion. It's what I want to do with my life. It's a part of what I do.

The easiest way to sum up the relationship between the drivers and NASCAR is that we are pawns on a chessboard. We don't make the big moves. We're just sacrificial lambs so to speak. They have their way of explaining to you very quickly that you can be replaced very, very easily in this sport no matter how popular you are.
