In a deal, you give and take. You compromise. Then you grab the cash and catch the next train out of town.

All compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. For it is all give and no take.

If a person gives nothing of what he has, either take nothing or take everything. If a person serves everything, take one. If a person gives one, either take it or leave it, depending on your feelings and his motives.

When writing 'Give and Take' and 'Originals,' the predominant emotion for me was curiosity.
