In a weird way, this tragedy will make it a magnet for opportunity seekers. It's the irony of tragedies.

There is no simple explanation for anything important any of us do, and the human tragedy, or the human irony, consists in the necessity of living with the consequences of actions performed under the pressure of compulsions so obscure we do not and cannot understand them.

This is a city that's had a terrible tragedy, but there's an opportunity to build it back and build it back better. It could become a city that integrates rather than isolates, a city that inspires, a city that celebrates history and diversity and culture and people.

We are a small community. This tragedy has ripped our guts out.

Don't you hate people who say that you can't understand what they've been through and/ or say that you don't even know them? I do. Especially since the majority don't even know themselves. Ignorance certainly is not bliss, it is downright hazardous.

He sees this as an opportunity to elevate the Iowa State athletic program to a higher level, and he has great momentum and a great foundation to build upon.
