It looks like a package deal. We spoke about their remaining (in Labor) and not defecting to another party, but apparently things were already sealed, and the talks with us were nothing but a smokescreen.

They said how important it is for our party, how important it is for the leadership.

First off, you have to have a good relationship with your party leadership and then you need to have good relationships with your colleagues in the House on both sides of the aisle. I plan on doing both of those things.
