In New York I didn't have a TV. I had a rented bed. I never hung art on the walls. I always liked to be able to throw everything into a bag and leave. And I think I have that attitude about certain relationships, and I think it was a protective measure.

New York has always been a weird hometown for us. It was kind of the first place in the United States outside of Austin [Texas] where we really were embraced.

What we decided to do was to take the ship into New York a day early and miss two ports to get an extra day in of sanitation and disinfecting the ship with no passengers on board. We wanted passengers off the ship so we could really make sure the cycle was broken.

I saw these pictures at an art show in New York and just had to have them at our gallery.

There are too many opportunities in New York. We can't live too far away.

Back then, my air fare on Eastern Airlines to fly from Florida to where Marge was stationed in New York was $16. It was the most important flight I ever made.
