In response to the challenge of strangers, sport arose as a sublimated representation of a community's armed might as well as its pride of place and clan.

FUBU is pretty well licensed out in China and Asia. In America it's a little more of a challenge, obviously, because it's a branded sport.

But baseball bounced back in the next decade to reclaim its place as the national pastime: new heroes, spirited competition, and booming prosperity gave birth to dreams of expansion, both within the major leagues and around the world.

This is about pride. This is about pride in your community, which is something we don't do a lot of in Yakima.

I take pride in what we did for the community with our requests. We always wish we could do more, but any recognition is progress. My main hope is that whatever we accomplished with the park won't distract from the principles behind it. A park is just a place. We need to keep Dr. King's dream alive by continuing to recognize the diversity of the people who live in this area.
