In this enlightened age, there are few I believe, but what will acknowledge, that slavery as an institution is a moral & political evil in any country. It is useless to expatiate on its disadvantages.

I believe that, as long as there is plenty, poverty is evil.

I believe in peace-building in any kind of platform, be it a political platform like Parliament or negotiations like peace-building negotiations.

I believe that dogma is often evil.

Our country demands all our strength, all our energies. To resist the powerful combination now forming against us will require every man at his place. If victorious, we have everything to hope for in the future. If defeated, nothing will be left for us to live for. My whole trust is in God, and I am ready for whatever He may ordain.

As a theist I believe that God exists and that God creates.
