It appears participation was the highest in this country's electoral history.

It was an incredible beginning. The level of participation was a lot more than we expected. The Haitian people sent a message to the world that they can vote in numbers and they have confidence in the future of their country.

This is consistent with the history of our field. This demonstrates the importance of the participation of government-funded academics.
