It delays marriage. Men marry too late from the point of view of women, especially educated men. It leaves more women single, or marrying beyond the age of childbirth.

Later marriage is very strongly associated with higher levels of education. That's why people in the Northeast have such a late age of marriage.

Sometimes I wonder if men and women really suit each other. Perhaps they should live next door and just visit now and then.

There's huge similarity within all cultures where women are assumed to become property of men on marriage and where the dignity of men is wrapped up in protecting their women.
