If you look at the traffic we expect on Interstate 81 in the year 2035, and you took every truck off the interstate, we would still have Thanksgiving weekend conditions every day of the year.

There would not be enough room out there for just cars. And that's if you could take every truck off.

Let's put it bluntly. If rail would be profitable, private companies would be doing it already.

They couldn't. You still have local deliveries, and deliveries on shorter trips, like between Harrisonburg and Bristol.
