The people of Alabama just have a general distrust of government. They don't want to give (lawmakers) discretion.

Nonsense. I would like to say, quite formally and clearly, that my government would never allow something like this.

What you have is someone with a fundamental distrust of government rolling the dice, cutting taxes and programs, and having it come back to bite him. It shines a spotlight on the fact that many of his budget decisions, in hindsight, look like mistakes.

I feel there's a lot of distrust throughout the town, and I think I can bring trust back between the citizens and the board. We sure had it before, and I'd like to get it back. I don't like all these faction groups.

A lot of people don't believe that Kirk-Heitkamp is a real reform bill.
