It just wasn't cost effective for us to run school when half the population wasn't teaching and so many students were missing.

Those are categories where we have a lot students, so of course more funding would be a benefit for us.

We didn't want to have street bums or a flock of primary school students joining.

We try to make things relevant to the lives of students culturally and by teaching timeless truths. This allows us to be on their field, their turf.

If I recall correctly, there were probably 20 of us. I think the school population was 200 or 300.

We realized that it would be hard to get enough people. Given the fact that we have no idea when the union would call a strike, our first priority was that we have an adequate number of responsible adults to be able to administer the curriculum.
