It seems to be all about protecting coaches and not about helping kids.

Taking two years out of a kid's high school athletic career is a life sentence for an adolescent.

We today need to take a leap of faith that if we make this decision today, we're going to push kids to do things that maybe right now some kids don't think they can do. They've been told all their lives they can't do it, and they have teachers who don't believe they can do it.

I will be a teacher as well as a coach and will try to teach kids how important a good work ethic is and how to handle adversity. Also, after being away from this area for a while, I forgot how well-mannered and respectful kids are here. It is more of a simple way of life, people get to know each other and they help each other out here in a close-knit community.

I've always been a daydreamer. When the other kids were playing, I was listening to the roar at Yankee Stadium - I was always attracted to the roar of the crowd.

Some of them are so steep that I'm actually fearful that I'm going to tip.
