It started to loosen with each hit. We were popping up, and everyone wanted to hit one over the fence. We were reaching, trying to jack one out.

It was a little stiff, but it started to loosen up as the game went on. It just didn't feel right (not to play). I didn't want anybody to think I was giving up on my team, the fact that we were losing a lot of games.

Track started Wednesday and we had one practice before we left. Now, we plan to run around Aberdeen.

I'm the eternal pessimist, (so) of course it was a hit. I had it going to the fence. He got a good break and he made a nice play.

Travis was pitching well and Mitch Powell (freshman) hit a double that one-hopped the left field fence. But in the sixth, we started making the mistakes again and allowed them to score six runs. Even though we lost 7-1, we did go the full seven innings and I'm happy about that.

If I'd been easily discouraged, I could have been a one-hit wonder.
