It took the tenacity and spirit of thousands and thousands of women who worked in an unrelenting way for many, many years.

Women need to have a voice in government to be able to achieve the perfect union that the framers had talked about. If you don't have something, you're more likely to fight for it. If you have it, you take it for granted.

It provides us with an excellent opportunity to really honor the amazing organizing efforts of the thousands of women and men who worked to secure the right to vote. It links the generations in appreciating what was done before us, acknowledges how far we have come and what work remains to be done.
