It was the consistency that you appreciated. It was the idea that you had a guy on the mound who would allow you to go out and feel safe in the seventh inning and he was going to give you a chance to win the game.

I'm looking for some consistency from some of those guys coming out of that bullpen. Daryl has given up the [home run ] ball a little bit lately, but we need to give him the ball. He's been here three years, and we need to find out whether he's going to be able to help us down the stretch.

There's no question it's going to be a tough period. If there's any place where you need consistency, it's planning. You need people like (Bailey) with experience and knowledge of mistakes that have happened in the past, or you're destined to repeat those mistakes.

It's got me baffled. We play well against worthy opponents. After 11 games we just don't have any consistency.

I'm looking for consistency. I'm looking for solid production -- and that doesn't necessarily mean scoring.
