It's always good to go home. It's strengthening to see your past and know you have someplace to go where you're part of a people.

I've always had the kinds of careers that have a tendency to go home with you.

It's simple: You get a part. You play a part. You play it well. You do your work and you go home. And what is wonderful about movies is that once they're done, they belong to the people. Once you make it, it's what they see. That's where my head is at.

Home is where I desperately want to leave and I did. While I'm away, I keep thinking of all the good people I left behind and I long to return home.

You go back and you read your Constitution. You read your Declaration of Independence. And you will see that the only people who could decide these freedoms were white males who owned property, and all the rest of us were excluded.

But when I go to Chicago, I know I'm home.
