It's a good idea. Most people prefer to stay at home.

This, in a political sense and an economic sense, could have profound impact on virtually all governments in Wisconsin. It could be one of the most significant things the Legislature has done in years. It's a good election year issue, frankly.

The middle-of-the-road voter is interested in the future, where we are going to go, where the two candidates want to lead the state.

I think that has to do with the intensity issue. The voting was only 21 percent of the eligible voters. The ?yes' side was more invested, so more likely to show up as voters. They wanted to make a statement. The ?no' side was less organized. Eighty percent of the people didn't vote.

We wanted to get a broader-based opinion, not just voters' opinions.

Because the market was so tight, and still is tight, people just can't find a home that they want to go into, or don't want to pay-- they want to make the money on the sale, they don't want to spend it on a new home. So instead, they're cashing out the equity in that house and finishing off the basement or putting an addition on.
