It's a quality of life thing for all the people in the Valley. It makes the air that you breathe in that area not full of dust. It makes driving on the road safer. It will increase the amount of fish and shrimp.

We need to invest in prevention because it's better for the quality of life of people if they live longer without a chronic or disabling disease, ... and it's better for us as a nation because we're not putting so many resources in treatment of chronic diseases.

The wetland restoration has started, but we need more water flow to have a functioning ecosystem.

The wetlands are important because they are the filtration between the marine environment and the terrestrial environment. By having a little filtration there, we protect the ocean from the impacts of man.

What have we lost? Well, we've lost a scientist who is really concerned about the quality of life for people who live in earthquake country. We have terabytes of information Tony gathered in the '80's and '90's (about earthquakes and land movement). That will be just part of Tony's legacy.
